My heart was broken to learn that one my boyhood heroes passed away on Christmas night. Danny Hodge was a great athlete and deserves a place in the history of wrestling and sports. Jay Cal of Alliance-Wrestling referred to Hodge as a forerunner of what we call today a MMA fighter.
Along with being a multi-time NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Champion, Hodge won a silver metal, in wrestling, at the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne. He also won the Chicago Golden Gloves in the heavyweight division. As a professional boxer, Hodge's record was 7-2.
So much can be written about Danny Hodge. It would take days of research to record most of it. I have written about him in the past and will probably write more in the future.
Jon Huber, also known as Brodie Lee and Luke Harper, passed away on December 26th at the age of 41. Most of know of Hubers success in the WWE and AEW. He also held the NWA Empire Heavyweight Championship and the NWA Southern Heavyweight Championship. Jon Huber also deserves a place in wrestling history.
