I was shocked that Brock Lesnar obtained a title shot against UFC Heavyweight Champion, Randy Couture, after only 3 fights. In February Lesnar was defeated by former Champion Frank Mir in the first round. In my opinion he has not earned his dues for a fight of this caliber. Despite being a former WWE Superstar, and former NCAA wrestling champion.
Randy Couture is 45 years old, and his mixed martial arts carrier was in it’s final days before the fight. Lesnar is only 31, which gave him a great advantage. If Couture had been younger, I think he would have easily won the fight. Also if Mir, who is only 29, gets another title shot, I think he will beat Lesnar again.
One thing I will say about Lesnar, he does draw an audience which makes a lot of money for the UFC. He is also a talented athlete in many sports. Still I don’t think his reign as champion will be very short.
