The Indian and the Sun

An Indian came
And stood by the river’s edge
Looking at the sun
The two discussed the world’s fate
And then one morning
Men wearing metal helmets
Riding in canoes
Came sailing down the river
Now the Indian
Understood the sun’s wise words
The world he knew would transform
