Bob O'Connor Passes Away

Bob O'Connor, Mayor of Pittsburg, passed away on September 1st. Only after serving 7 months as Mayor, Oconnor was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer. He also served on the Pittsburg City Council, and was a former aide to Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell.

For a full biography of Bob O'Connor you can go to Wikipedia. Also my friend Jo Janoski, a native of Pittsburg, has a link on her blog that leads to a great article on Mayor O'Connor. You can reach Jo's website at jojanoski.wordpress.com.

My prayers go out to the O'Connor family.

Thank you for mentioning our dear Mayor. Around Pittsburgh, folks are wearing wrist bands that read, "Mayor Bob O'Connor - Everybody's Mayor"--and he was, too, the "People's Mayor" with a kind word for everyone. He was also a mayor who worked on the street, seeing to a clean, well-run city rather than getting tangled in bureaucracy at the office. The kind of mayor anyone, no matter one's political affilation, could respect.
