The Four Beast

In Revelation:4 John saw a vision of the throne room of heaven. This article will take a look at the four beast that stand before the throne. Unlike the twenty-four elders, who sit before God, these creatures are angelic beings. Verse 6 states that they praise God night and day, "Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty, Which Was, And Is, And Is To Come."

All creatures share one common thing in appearance. Verse 5 describe each having six wings full of eyes. Also each creature has it on distinct form that is symbolic of Christ.

The first beast looked like a lion. He represents Jesus the King. All through the ages the lion in referred to as the King of Beast. Matthew:1 records the genealogy of Joseph. It was through Joseph that Jesus inherits the crown of David. When Jesus returns to Earth he will be King, and his capital will be in Jerusalem.

Jacob blessed his son Judah in Genesis 49:8-12. He referred to him as a lion. Jesus is from the tribe of Judah.

The second beast had the appearance of an ox. He represents Jesus the Servant. The Gospel of Mark deals with the three year ministry of Jesus. Mark records Christ casting out demons, healing the sick, and teaching his disciples. Mark 16:15-16 records the last instruction that Jesus gave his apostles. They were to serve mankind.

The third beast looked like a man. Luke 3:23-28 gives the genealogy of Mary. These scriptures show that Jesus is the Son of Man. The Gospel of Luke records many events of the life of Christ.

The forth beast looked like an eagle. This symbolizes the deity of Christ. The Gospel of John focuses on who Jesus is. All through out the book the Apostle calls Jesus the Son Of God.
